New Land Rovers for sale

The narrow-focus nature of the range on 4x4 and off-road performance is being intensified by Land Rover’s gradual abandonment of petrol engines, but this is no bad thing as the diesels are brilliant, from the new Land Rover Freelander’s peppy 2.2 and the single-turbo refinement of the Discovery’s 2.7 TDV6 to the extraordinary civility and power of the twin-turbo 8-cylinder TDV8 that’s available on the Range Rover and Sport models. Four out of five Landies are as capable on road as off it, the exception being the venerable and soon-to-vanish Defender which, despite the arrival of a smooth and torquey new 2.4 diesel, still has to rely on old-school charm rather than ability for its sales. The Discovery 3 is one of the best riding cars at any price, and an easy drive too thanks to the still-fresh boxiness of its body styling. Image-wise, the Range Rover Sport has something of the Premiership footballer about it, but generally speaking Land Rover is now one of the most desirable names in motoring, a fact backed by quality standards that have risen substantially in recent times.
